Twenty years ago, the creative process took me from illustrating with conventional tools to discovering the infinite possibilities of drawing with fiber. My introduction to feltmaking, at  that point, was pivotal in my career because the initial excitement of learning the technique grew into a long journey of self discovery, experimentation and a passion to continue.

Early on, as well as today, I have used embroidery as a drawing tool on the rich surfaces of the felt fabrics. I see my narrative pieces as illustrations created on felt canvases which take on the textural qualities of the wool fibers. This dimensional combination brings more life to the interpretation of chosen ideas influenced by my love of illustration, nature and folk art.

Currently, I am incorporating handmade papers and various fabrics with the felts. Manipulating these materials with different embroidery techniques has inspired new directions without diminishing my love of feltmaking. This new journey is becoming a fresh voice for me and holds the promise of discovering more about the work I create and the challenge to remain open to change.  As I go forward with new ideas and techniques, I will continue to add finished pieces to this page.
